Can I start numbering from something other than 1?
Yes. You can set any starting number, which is useful when a document is one volume of a larger set.
Will the numbers cover up my content?
Numbers are placed in the page margin. Choose the position that suits your layout if a corner is already occupied.
Can I add numbers to a document I already merged?
Yes, and that is the usual reason to need this. Merge first, then number, so the sequence runs correctly across the whole document.
